My favorite place to go dancing. Contrary to popular belief not only Afrikaans music is played. There is a reasonable variety. Great large. Large dance floor. Small entrance fee but free before 9 pm. Opskop has a bar, but strick rules of no drinking on the dance floor. Amazing place to make memories. Life filled place especially for students.

If you have a fun crowd of people with you it will be fun! Usually R20 entrance fee. People that come here are generally very friendly and you will definitely learn to sokkie (dance)! Bar staff is also friendly but unfortunately there is not the biggest selection of drinks to choose from. You can however bring in your own drinks (if I'm not mistaken) and just pay a fee.

If you're someone who likes to tear up the dance floor to a variety of sokkie music or the occasional EDM song this is a good place to be. For the people who prefer the pub vibe, there's a bar and seating outside as well as inside.

You hear a lot about opskop as a university student. En experience at Opskop is very much dependant on your idea of fun. You need to like sokkie music, but being able to dance is not a prerequisite. You pick it up as you go. It's not like the other clubs in the area. The refreshing thing I experienced, is that because it's out of town and you have to drive most people are actually sober (or less drunk). It's a very sociable atmosphere. There's a R20 entrance fee, but it's totally worth it. The Stellenbosch dance society attend often and they're fun to watch and learn from.

Opskop is a nice dance place, never over crowded with a large dance floor and a outside deck. Been going there for years.
They often don't have a dj playing and only a preset Playlist.
Friends enjoy it as it's out of town and doesn't seem to attract bad elements.
Place can do with some fans to cool down the dancers and circulate the air.

Opskop is a great hangout for the young crowd. Here students and young working professionals dust of the weeks grind and stress. It is one of the few places one can go sokkie (a dance that is done with a partner to mostly Afrikaans music). There is a great chill area outside, couches and a TV for those catching their breath or not interested in dancing. The bar is reasonably priced and there is no corkage charged. The entrance fee is R20 and free before 9pm. The only disadvantage of this hangout is the location. It is 10km outside of Stellenbosch so one has to drive or uber to get there.

I love spending an evening at opskop. They play the best afrikaans tunes. Great vibes and a cash bar. Safe and an ideal place to spend a fun evening with a couple of friends.
