Amazing hospital and great staff. Visiting hours should be longer. Family and friends can come at any time to drop off things for their loved ones that's in the hospital. Overall thank you for an awesome service

Don’t know what was saltier, the staff or the food. I felt more sick than relaxed being in Akeso. Would definitely not recommend for anyone struggling with mental health issues.

I have tried endlessly to be admitted today 28th April 2022, what a waste of time. Staff are inefficient, and have no knowledge. I have been a patient in JHb since 2012. I know when I need help. Left messages for Dr's and Hospital Manager, no reply. I went as far as talking to Jhb. asking for their advice. Still to no avail. Umhlangu you have a lot to learn from Johannesburg. Hopefully I am not dead by the time Akiso Umhlangu read this.

Food is so spicy.. When 8v Atleast asked for cheese sandwich, they deliberately told me cheese is locked up so I have to take my medication on an empty stomach. Food here it's not so pleasant.

Absolutely pathetic treatment from the staff and security guards no empathy what's so ever... Drove a distance to drop of stuff for a relative absolutely no understanding and no assistance from an off duty nurse, she sat and played with her phone had no intention of helping or even caring that we drove a distance, not asking to bend the rules but at least they could have stored the stuff until it was drop off day.. Love what you do and u will never work a day in your life!

I went to akeso umhlanga recently and my experience wasnt exactly what I had expected. I was admitted for my severe depression and suicidal tendencies. Some patients and nurses were rather very chaotic and loud, which made it difficult for me to focus on my healing process. I did enjoy some of the sessions and activities that were available there as they were very informative and overall quite helpful. I wasnt really a huge fan of the nurses as I strongly feel as if some were clearly racially motivated and just plain rude. I made a few friends though so that was cool I guess. I still wanna kms to be honest but now that I have a better understanding of my illness, I'm confident that one day I will overcome my depression :) #akeso heals purr

Good facility and nursing staff marred significantly by arrogant and totally unhelpful staff in Reception displaying a total lack of empathy and inability or unwillingness to take responsibility for admissions and to arrange beds despite directions from doctors. Nicole being the only exception. Netcare seriously needs to retrain receptionists and also to expand the facility as its capacity is woefully inadequate.
