It’s Sunday morning and what a better way to start it off than with a scrumptious breakfast. Friends have told me of this legendary place in Bloemfontein called “Iewers Nice”, but unfortunately they’re closed on Sundays. To our surprise we had learned that there is another outlet in the Mimosa Mall, so we might as well go try it out there.
We ordered two “build your own” breakfasts - with eggs, bacon, mushrooms, halloumi, and roosterkoek - setting us back R100 each, and here’s the verdict:
1) The portions were incredibly small and not filling at all.
2) The butter came from the coldroom to the table, hard and unspreadable.
3) The roosterkoek was undercooked, the center still sticky and the dough raw.
4) The sunny side eggs had far too much uncooked whites on top.
5) The pepper grinder was so greasy that the waitress cringed when picking it up to replace it.
The service at the restaurant is not bad, but I will most definitely not be returning anytime soon.
