When I was last in Cape Town, I didn't go on a single hike. Shocking, considering there are so many great trails here. This time around I knew I wanted to hike to see the sunrise. Nick and I left at 5am for a hike up Lion's Head. With only a headlamp as our light, we set up the mountain. I do a bit of hiking at home but this hike was more challenging than what I'm used to, at times doing a bit of scrambling to get up the steep rocks. On the entire hike, Nick went at a pace that not only suited me but he also provided a plethora of information on the flora, fauna, and South Africa as a whole. When we began walking down the mountain, I couldn't believe I had hiked up all those rocks in the pitch black early morning! The views of Table Mountain, the sunrise, the clouds rolling in, the hike as a whole, and Nick's company are something I'll cherish forever. He also proceeded to take my mom and I on a short driving tour of Bo-Kaap, a little walking street art tour in Woodstock, shopping at the Old Biscuit Mill, and to the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden. His passion for the outdoors, knowledge of Cape Town, and experience hiking shine through. I recommend him highly, and hope to enjoy more hikes in Cape Town one day! THANK YOU, NICK!!
