Yet another amazing visit to De Grendel. Once again, a great meal. 3 course set menu. I opted for the pork belly starter. This was absolutely amazing. Cooked to perfection. Tender flesh with just enough crisp to the outer skin.
For mains, I chose the beef fillet. I selected rare and I was not disappointed. Tasty, juicy and just the right size cut.
The chocolate cheesecake was my dessert choice. Not too sweet. Perfect texture. Really tasty. Finished off with a nice cappuccino.
I don't recall which red wine I went with, but the 3 different wines consumed at the table were all met with positive responses.

Sure the food is excellent. And sure the wine out of this world. But there is just something about this restaurant that feels a little ‘stuffy’ or ‘old fashioned.’ Compared to the vibe of some other well-known Cape Town eating establishments, this place just lacks a ‘hip’ factor. It’s to do with the decor, the attitudes of the serving staff, and well, the food. Which again is great. But it all just feels a little conservative for my taste. And while they obviously have no problem filling the place weeks in advance which means they have a loyal clientele, my feeling is one of a missed opportunity to be more modern and funky with the high level of food, wine and service they do have.

Went for the fine dining lunch experience at De Grendel, and I was blown away by the delicious food, array of flavours, professionalism of all staff and the quality of the wine. The Sauvignon Blanc was smooth and fruity, personally my favourite.

Enjoyed the pulled pork for starters, followed by lamb shanks for mains and ended off with a dark chocolate cheesecake with homemade Oreo ice cream. All the flavours were so well blended together and all round really enjoyable experience.

There is also a full view of table mountain and Lions head from the restaurant. Quite spectacular. I will be back

Beautiful setting. Long drive to the tasting area. The closest farm and I have never visited. Service and knowledge well presented. A definite must when bringing tourists and family.

Great experience. The views are awesome, the food is amazing. Friendly and courteous waitron’s! We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to De Grendel, from start to finish.

Stunning food and very attentive service from Thabo our server. The atrium section where we were seated offers lovely views but is quite a noisy space as it's enclosed. I would have offered five stars but the noisy atmosphere is at odds with the fine dining experience that I was expecting.
