Don't judge a book by it's cover
This Bar and Bistro took me by complete and utter surprise. The old style of the original house was kept with and added twist. A savanna twist theme.
Situated on the main road it is easy to drive past. The waitress was friendly, on top of her game and descriptive with the menu. This place has everything from platters for one to platters to share up to 6 people, seafood, chicken or beef burgers, wraps, schnitzels, surf and turf, wine, shooters and hard liquor. Gluten-free options are also available. Delicious side orders such as side vegetables, side salads, onion rings and a big variety of sauces. The vegetables and chicken strips were a little oily so ease up on the oily love chef. I want to come back ! Freshly made baguette garlic bread is a must try. Don't forget the dessert. Waffles, ice cream, chocolate brownies and chocolate mouse. Need a place to host a year end function, baby showers or birthday, Medeiras does it all.

Wow, Wow and Wow !!!
I was last at Madeiras sometime pre lockdown.... dark, dirty and dingy.
Well new owner Rory has outdone himself, made some amazing decor changes, inside and outside its now light, colorful, spacious and very pleasant.
My girlfriend Emma, suggested we try Madeiras out, I have to say I was skeptical after my last visit.
I was pleasantly surprised.
The food is frankly amazing.
We started with the Peri peri chicken livers to share.
Mildly hot, with a spectacularly tasty creamy sauce. Well presented and deliciously mouthwatering.
The manager Justin then offered us complimentary Jagermeisters on the house, these were beautifully chilled which I have never had before and went down a treat.
Next we opted for the special of the day a seafood platter for one at R175 including a carafe of red or white wine.
I have to say I am often weary of speacials and was definately not expecting what arrived at our table.
Wow, wow and wow again, what arrived was a gastronomical surprise and an enormous serving of seafood delight.
A bowl of creamy mussels + - 12 x , 6 x prawns, calamari strips, calamari tentickles, a portion of battered hake fish, a portion of chips and a decent serving of tartar sauce.
It was all mouthwateringly delicious.
We then had the Amarula creme brulee dessert. This was well presented with ice cream and a good "cracking" caramelized top.
Also delicious.
Thank you to our very helpful and attentive waitron Chanté.
I rate this place 9/10 and well worth a visit. I will certainly be returning.
Thank you Madeiras team for an enjoyable afternoon.

When we arrived at the restaurant there was no hostess too greet us and we waited for 10 minutes for someone too actually see us .We eventually got our table which we reserved and waited another 15 minutes for our drinks order to be placed When they brought our hot chocolates it was just milk .We had too send them back The food was excellent but the service was terrible. They were understaffed. We had too ask for cutlery and serviettes. We asked for sparkling water and got tap water .Once we had our meal we had too wait again for 20 minutes for our desserts we tool the one too go instead as we was tired of the long wait

Lovely neighborhood hangout with daily specials that are generous portions and well prepared. Also a daily drink on special. Roaring fire inside for those rainy days and lots of outdoor seating for summer.

Nice place with good food. Only issue is don't order fries with the platters. Rather as an extra. Dissapointed that it's a known fact that the portion you paying R65 for is a quarter of what you get for R45 as a side.

I'm sure someone will fix it though...

Loving the new Madeiras. Seems so much bigger now after renovations. Really friendly and efficient complement of staff. The new owner Rory (ex Victoria times in fish hoek) has brought his great personality to the place along with a nice fresh, upmarket feel.
