The guided hike up Lion's Peak with Stuart was excellent. Not only did we get to enjoy the incredible views, but also learn a huge amount from Stuart about the area and its history. An absolutely fantastic way to see and experience Cape Town.

Stuart was an incredible guide, can’t recommend him and Wild Things Outdoors enough. He timed up the sunset walk perfectly and made two very novice hikers feel very comfortable throughout…his passion for nature and history were also an incredible addition to the climb. Can’t recommend Wild Things Outdoors enough.

I'm so glad we had a guide, and that Stu (ownder/guide of Wild Things Outdoor) was that guide. Although, you can hike Lion's Head on your own, you would be missing out on SO much. Stu really provided for a full experience, and I'm grateful.

Before I'd even booked, Stu was quick and helpful in his communication. Then, when we we arrived at the trailhead, I knew we were in for an great afternoon. He is super friendly, personable, patient, and knowledgeable - from geology, flora/fauna, history, hiking, etc. We were both nerding out over what we were learning from him. He allowed us to set a reasonable pace, was always encouraging/positive, and let us stop to take as many pictures as we wanted. When we got to the summit, we enjoyed the gorgeous sunset. After listening to him share with us, several other hikers remarked how they wished they'd had a guide to make for a more well-rounded experience.

On the way down, we encountered a solo woman hiker who was very unprepared for the conditions - improper shoes, not enough water (it was a scorcher), and no light other than her phone (it was dark by then). She was scared. Stu is very safety conscious, and she walked back down part of the way with us until she met up with another group.

This was such a memorable experience, in large part because of Stu. I highly recommend you look at booking with Wild Things Outdoor for your South Africa adventures!

My husband and I contacted Stuart to organize a Cape Point tour for 25 of our friends and family who were making the trip to South Africa from the United States for our wedding. While Stu typically likes to keep his groups to a max of 6 people so he can give his utmost attention to everyone - he didn't hesitate to agree to take on our group and he planned everything from start to finish and it was a superb day.

To give you an idea of the level of service he provides - we accidentally gave him the wrong day when planning and he realized our mistake and reached out two days before - we didn't have to worry about anything, he rearranged all of the plans to accommodate the right day. In addition, a few of our guests were staying on in Cape Town after our wedding and he took them in smaller groups on a Table Mountain hike as well as another city tour which they raved about.

Net net - Stu is the best and you will not be disappointed with a Wild Things tour, hike, exploration etc...

10/10 would recommend Stuart as a guide; he is incredibly knowledgeable and prepared for emergency situations that can occur on the mountain. I can’t thank him enough for his assistance after I had taken a rather scary fall while hiking on Lions Head on my own— if it wasn’t for his immediate help, my experience would’ve turned out to be a quite traumatic one for sure. I’m so glad to know that there are incredible guides like Stuart out there who are trained and able to handle emergency situations on the mountain like a boss!

I returned home this past week from South Africa where I was fortunate enough to have completed a number of wonderful adventures with Stu. His professionalism is surpassed only by his love, knowledge and passion for his country and the people and wildlife that inhabit it as well as his generalized sense of humor. He helped make this trip both an informative as well as a hilarious and highly memorable one. It is evident from start to finish that he genuinely cares about the memories his guests take home with them. Would recommend to any family member of friend several times over!

Our hike with Stuart to Lion's Head is THE highlight of our trip to Cape Town. The mountain is steep, some climbs are terrifying if you are an average city person like I am. But having Stuart there made all the difference. It was beyond having a hiking guide, Stuart knows everything about South Africa. Like really, everything, from the smell of geranium and sage on the trail, to the history, colonization, wildlife and invasions of Cape Town. He helped me A LOT to get up to the summit and was patient, encouraging, and even brought along some trail mix. Without him, we wouldn't have made it to the summit. Thank you for an amazing experience.
