We spent a night at the Lord Charles yesterday with our family. Not having been there for many years, what a wonderful surprise. The hotel has had a stunning revamp and the service was truly excellent. Great food, close to wine estates and large expansive gardens. The rooms were immaculate. I love the trendy Art Deco theme they have introduced into the reception and lounge area. Such a great hotel for a weekend away or a team build / conference. Truly impressed

From the moment you drive in the gate there is the wow factor... Immaculate Gardens, incredible views and just brilliant. Then it just gets better.... The parking area, the reception the rooms are incredible.

As for the breakfast, by far the best i have had in a hotel.... LC is 10/10 and that's a fact.

The public were shocked and disappointed when The Lord Charles closed during Covid. But since it reopened, I can't think many people have returned?
I have visited the St. Andrew's bar a few times since it reopened. It's great to see the original barman, Carter, has returned. He's charming and caring....maintaining standards.
On my last visit, during load shedding, it was sad to see and feel the emptiness.
The on site restaurant looks elegant, but sadly austere. At 7pm, there were no patrons.
The hotel is beautifully maintained and I feel sad that it's empty. Maybe the conference centre brings about a better vibe during business hours?.
I would like to see some music, light entertainment or something similar to attract local people, outside of conference times. If things remain as they are, I suspect the hotel will not continue trading.....I do hope I'm wrong, because it's legendary and elegant

I was there with a work function so I haven't interacted with the staff as such except at dinner and our waitress was very friendly and professional. One small problem that I had is that the gents restroom had a very bad smell and funny enough one of the staff members was in the restroom why didn't they report it because that smell was there throughout our stay. Other then that it was a pleasant stay, the rooms are very comfortable with couches and TV.

Wonderful breakfast. Friendly, helpful and competent staff. Lovely experience from the well-kept gardens to the beautiful interior. Loved watching the squirrels while eating the sumptuous breakfast.

Awesome place. Great staff.
Rooms clean an spacious. Weekday traffic is a bit heavy in the morning so keep this in mind if you have morning meetings.

My guest's were happy with their stay. The only thing was that the service in the bar area was too slow when making the Irish coffees u0026 dealing with the big group orders.Great to have you guys open again.
