ONOMO Hotel Durban

I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel when I visited to meet a friend from out of town who was staying there. Having been aware of it from the time it was built, I’d never paid much attention to it save to admire the modern architecture. When I went inside, I found that the modern theme was maintained and accentuated. Wide open spaces inside and out, distinctive rectangular lines, a soft and neutral colour palette on the walls and stylish fonts on wall markings all serve to create an impression of class and attention to detail. I particularly liked the lighting which gave the reception area a warm and welcoming ambiance. I met my friend at the roof-top Topaz Bar and was pleased with the service received. Space is limited within the hotel and so it would be easy to feel claustrophobic. However, the clever use of space, architecture and decor help make the place feel bigger than what it actually is. I did not get to see the rooms but my friend was satisfied with hers. She also appreciated the proximity of the hotel to the beach and the Durban International Convention Centre where she was attending a conference. I will definitely visit here again.

Nice location. Rooms are not so good for adults. Design is beautiful from outside. Great security from parking to rooms. Large parking and undercover. Good breakfast. Staff is friendly and helpful. I did not like the design of the rooms with cupboards like student accommodation.

I loved the staff, they were nice especially the male supervisor, I forgot his name, made sure that our stay was comfortable. However, on our last day the service was so slow, the whole hotel didn't have matchsticks and that day it was a different supervisor (female) not the one that catered for our needs previously. In overall, I'm rating 4 stars because of that male supervisor, clean rooms and the humbleness of the securities.

Kindly address the issue of moist....it gives bad odour. And please get double beds instead of single beds brought together. The food, and the reception area is awesome but there is a room for improvement regarding your services, even walking up and down to get an iron and iron board is so unnecessary. Usually in every floor in hotels there is an ironing room with an iron and ironing board. Your staff is awesome, very friendly and warm

The hotel is always impeccably clean and elegant. The staff are always warm and friendly. Jodi and Lee make the H in hospitality! They go above and beyond to accommodate me as a client. It's always a pleasure going to the hotel and I always leave with a smile on my face and in my heart.

On the good side: The hotel was close to casino, beach front etc. The hotel was also clean and up to its standards hygiene wise.

On the other hand: The beds where very low and almost felt like you where sleeping only on a sofa.

The fire alarm went off in the evening and when we called and asked where the stairs would be in case of an emergency in future, it’s wasn’t clear as to which sections of the building had stairs and when we asked for directions they couldn’t answer.

Onomo is located in the city’s centre. This works perfectly for me because I am able to access anything and everything easily. It is also near the beach. It’s a beautiful hotel aesthetically pleasing on the eye, and has a restaurant. I’m very picky with my breakfast, and I can safely say they will satisfy your tastebuds. The staff is very friendly. The room is a standard size. It’s always clean.
