Grei at Saxon is everything fine dining should be. Well decorated and classy professional service is what you can expect. The staff was friendly, well trained and dressed accordingly. The decor adds to ambience and with only a few tables in the restaurant, it feels cozy, spacious and personal. The food was excellent. High standards and well presented, each plate had tastes to suit even the most sophisticated pallet. As you would expect from any fine dining restaurant, each course was explained and comes with a wine pairing should you wish to do the wine pairing option. All in all a great experience and top class food. Would definitely recommend if you like the finer side of dining.

The food at Grei is absolutely amazing! I am vegetarian and I loved every single dish I was served. The staff is extremely professional, polite and knowledgeable. The Saxon hotel is a very fancy place and has good atmosphere.

Sadly this restaurant is trying too hard and not on trend as they mix more flavours/textures than needed and display old world stuffiness. For example using silver tray to carry 2 plates a mere 2 meters from the pass to the table. Furthermore, the wine margins are outrageous. I am unfamiliar with SA wines and although the wine was lovely, I was charged R5,000 for a wine that is sold for R400, albeit with less bottle age. Finally it was my birthday, which they knew and no effort or comment was made. Pass on this place and fly to cape town for far better experiences, like at la colombe, belly of the beast and test kitchen. Very disappointed.

The best meal I have ever eaten. Top class service and amazing decor. Worth a visit and cant wait to return.

This is a 6 star place. Truely extraordinary. It is also very expensive but wow if you can afford this treat for someone this is an experience not to be missed
