What a superb welcome to South Africa!

After a long flight, we were able to check in early to an amazing king sized room with a private garden space overlooking a little pool with goldfish, all thickly planted and green - lovely panorama from the bed! A lot of thought has clearly gone into the design of the place - beautiful artwork and comfortable communal guest spaces as well as unique artistic touches in the rooms.

Huge bed was super comfortable with a good shower and all the amenities you would hope for. Ones we didn’t expect and were really delighted with were an honesty bar, able to buy SA plug adaptors, and a delicious breakfast. The location is great - steps from all the restaurants and bars of Melville and a very short walk home after dinner to enjoy some wine from the honesty bar before an early night.

Best part though was how welcomed we were made to feel by Murphy and Sisifo. Genuinely warm and kind and wanted to help us feel at home!

Highly highly recommended, wish we had had more than one night at this delightful spot. And that we had had chance to try out the pool! Next time!

We (two adults, two children) enjoyed our stay at Lucky Bean Guesthouse a lot! Nice breakfast, friendly staff and Conway was very helpful to give us a head start to explore Johannesburg. He arranged a guide to explore Soweto and he recommended some great restaurants. Check out Hell's Kitchen (great burgers!), De La Creme and Picobella Trattoria! The neighborhood (especially 7th) is just great.

A piece of heaven tucked away like a hidden gem in Melville; gorgeous spacious rooms that are tastefully decorated. My king-sized room overlooked a beautifully manicured garden and pool. Sheer pleasure for a business trip and very reasonably priced. Deserves more than its official 3-star rating. Judging by the reviews, I'm not alone in my thinking...

Enjoyed my stay. The area was unbelievably quiet and safe. Both the owner and the staff are very friendly and welcoming. The rooms, bathrooms, the 24 hour open kitchen and the garden are crisp clean and spacious. You will definitely get your money's worth from Lucky Bean. The place is truly a small piece of classy paradise - the perfect gateway from Jhb's busy lifestyle. For future my family and I will only be booking here from now on. Very satisfied, thank you!

Loved the peace and quiet. The owners were very friendly and welcoming. We were there to celebrate our mother's 50th birthday. The rooms are neat. Pool very clean. Compliments to the chef. Great breakfast ????
