This has been my favorite meal in Jo'burg so far! The ostrich burger was SO good. And I can't praise the service enough--they really took care of me. The inside is quite pretty and spacious. Warm homemade bread is served before your meal, and they have incredible desserts to choose from. All around a fantastic eating experience!! 5 stars!

Traditional African Fare for a Fair Price

I planned my visit to this SA well run joint. Senegalese Yassa Chicken, Ostrich Pattie and Umngqusho all hit home runs with me.

The internet's hours aren't reliable and the ambience of the place isn't perfect with it being an indoor/outdoor venue, but the food does the talking.

Every dish was carefully thought out, from the complimentary bread to the lovely desserts. We had a wonderful server who knew the menu so well. She didn't cop out with the "a lot of people order it" line. No, we got recommendations that we ordered and loved. Cocktails were spirits forward and delicious as well.
Next trip to Johannesburg, Lucky Bean is a must visit.

Came here twice during my visit to Johannesburg. The first time we were hit with load shedding (scheduled blackouts) it was a magical way to spend the evening. Great service and food. The lack of electricity just added to the magic, eating by candlelight. I had to come back a second time. Even with the lights on it didn’t disappoint, ha. Very special place.

People are very friendly and the restaurant is nice. You found goog food. I had belly pork and it was tender and well prepared

Had an amazing meal here from the drink to the appetizer and the main dish Cape Malay Chicken Curry.... Everything was great. Waiter was delightful and attentive and definitely would recommend.

Nice setting but, contrary to other reviews, the service in the bar leaves a lot to be desired. Not only was our wine of choice unavailable, but the waitress (unapologetically) tried to charge us for a more expensive wine because they “didn’t have the right button” on the till! Hopefully just an off day for the bar waiting staff but much better options further up 7th street based on our experience alone.
