The restaurant was very empty for a Friday night, the food was delicious but I tend to have found that they were very pricey, I guess for the same chicken biryani dish you could have pain R30 less at another restaurant, our waiter also had some terrible BO, and that ruined the whole dining experience for me. The food itself was delicious.

By far THE BEST Vegetarian Restaurant around Johannesburg...surprisingly,it's also the most underrated. Since the 1st day I decided to "try" the place out, i'v never found another place to equally match up or better their quality of food,service and pricing,hence my family and I religiously/frequently travel from Bedfordview (the East Rand of Johannesburg) to Fordsburg, for a well deserved and highly anticipated treat to AUTHENTIC INDIAN CUISINE..(that's not too spicy,but rather perfectly balanced for an individual's taste buds) Admittedly, I'm somewhat of a food connoisseur who holds very high standards for areas of flavour, portions and fair pricing,and I can confidently say that Southern Spice (aka Swaruchi) by far exceed my expectations in all areas. In my personal opinion, a 5star rating is still an understatement to fairly describe the true essence of such a magnificent restaurant (though in all fairness,I must be bluntly honest...the interior designing could do with a facelift because 1st impressions to a newcomer could be very deceiving,one could get the impression that the food might not be 'so good' (which is a total misconception and far from the TRUTH, because in reality,this restaurant is a hidden gem !!!. In addition to the superb quality of authentic Indian cuisine,the staff are friendly and offer an equalibrium in service that fairly balance good quality food and good service....HIGHLY RECOMMEND to the discerning Indian food enthusiast....

Good food. Loved the Wings on Fire. Economical and well served. The staff is friendly and accommodating. Did not try the breakfast there though. One can go there for aheavy lunch and will not be dissatisfied.
