Life Bay View Private Hospital

Had an operation booked for today. Had to be at bay view at 6:30 in the morning. Then after waiting 2 hours and 45 minutes the surgeon shows up and says sorry there are no beds left so I must come back next week. I mean the organisation of the hospital is pathetic and absolutely ridiculous to think that they can’t even plan such simple things.

I had better experiences at the local clinic. I was at the Radiology apartment, and cannot speak bout the rest of the staff in the hospital.

The Receptionist at the Radiology was very rude and instruct me to drive back to my doctor, when it was totally unnecessary. The Receptionist wasted my time and money (petrol) just because I asked a question. She couldn't answer the question and got mad at me, then threw the form back at me.

The Receptionist asked me why the doctor I came from didn't fill in their name (although the name was filled in). I responded with "I don't know, how should I?" The receptionist started going on a rant and got louder and louder. I felt personally attacked, so I just asked her "Why are you screaming at me about this, I didn't do anything, did I?" The receptionist then threw the form back to me and told me to drive back to my doctor.

Please note - the receptionist was busy processing the form on the computer, she was accepting the form. It was only after I asked the question, she said, "But if that's the case, then you can go back to your doctor", and threw the form back to me.

Again, everything was filled out. The form was fine. The receptionist at radiology made me waste my petrol just because she got mad.

We received excellent ER and ward treatment at Life Bayview Hospital. The staff was professional and courteous. The Pediatric Ward and nursing staff was friendly and very accommodating. I would recommend the facility to anyone.

What a wo derful place, you should go here just for fun. They would never let you get cold at night or let you get dehydrated after having brainsurgery and especially they would never ever tie your arms in a nuce and let them go numb when you are in a semi concious state. Wow what a nice place

The receptionist, Roxanne, was outstanding. Dr Du Toit also excellent. But unfortunately the rest of my and my mother’s experience was very poor. My mother had a pacemaker fitted and the communication through the whole process was unacceptable. We chose this place expecting excellent service befitting the private hospital expectation. Sadly we are left disappointed and frustrated. Just some information and care can go a long way towards making stressed and tired people feel secure and in the right hands. Not enough empathy towards patients or concerned family members.

Wow!! If people really want a bad hospital experience, then you need to go to any provincial hospital. I was at Bay View for 3 days with my child who sufferred an ear infection and was very sick and the experience we had there was none other than extraordinary!! The staff and doctors were so friendly and humane it was hard to believe hosptital personel can be like that. Thank you to Bay View for treating us like royalty. I visited provincial a few times so I know what Im talking about. I could say pleasurable, but having a sick child is never a pleasure????

Sad how I've been coming here for years (Dr Potgieter always did great work) with never an issue and reception (I mean the reception outside the hospital), has such a pathetic attitude.
Please train / educate these people on how to better handle the situation when people have loved ones in pain.
First impressions matter and reception alone seems to be giving you guys a bad name.
