Very beautiful scenic pass. Fully gravel and quite rough and narrow in sections. In good weather you can manage in most cars, but take it slow and pull over for other vehicles to pass where the road is wider. The viewpoint is Tierberg.

Absolute must do mountain pass. Beautiful nature scenery. Did the drive from Prince Albert to Oudshoorn. Road in great shape.

Unbelievably stunning mountain pass. One of the best I have driven, I have also driven a lot of passes in Switzerland and am still impressed.
Do not miss it!

Price Albert is also a cute town and worth a visit too

A wonderful drive. Take some time to stop at the viewsite at the top and take in the awe-inspiring views back down the road.
Not truly a "4x4 only" route, it is perfectly do-able in an ordinary sedan provided the weather is good and the road is dry.
The turn-off west to Gamkaskloof ("Die Hel") is mid-way through the part of the pass that traverses the top of the mountain.

This is a very special pass. We did it in the rain and that made it even more special. Will have to come back and do it when the sun is shinning.

Road is in good condition, can be narrow for most of the way for one car at a time in any direction.
