We had an wonderful time at the reserve. Our knowledgeable guide, Koos, gave us a memorable tour. We saw quite a variety of game and the walk with the giraffes was really special.

We had a wonderful experience in this reserve, even tough we booked the tour on short term. Our competent guide and CEO of the family run reserve, Craig, brought us to diffrent animals and beautiful scenic points. He had a lot of knowledge to share and you could feel his enthusiasm for the wildlife. Deffinetly worth a visit while in Oudtshoorn!

We booked the giraffe walk last Sunday with Julian and what a truly amazing experience!! The game drive was fab, Julian is extremely knowledgeable and great fun, plus we got to see lots of giraffes. Perfect!!

We loved our time at Swartberg Game Reserve - truly a little piece of heaven.
Craig has an immense knowledge of the area and all of the wildlife within it. We spotted so many animals!
Peggy is super organised and such an accommodating host.

One of the most beautiful places in South Africa, boosting some incredible wildlife and natural beauty. Residing in the Swartberg mountain range this place is a must visit. From amazing waterfalls with Black eagles nesting on the cliffs to walking among giraffe on foot. Definitely going back again.

We spent two really special hours being driven by Craig around a tiny portion of the 7000 hectares in the Reserve. Unlike so many "Safari's" where you find yourself in a convoy of trucks, we were the only LandRover out there which made it particularly magical. The variety and quantity of game we saw far exceeded our expectations, including pronking springboks , Cape Zebra, and really close encounters both with buffalo and a beautiful group of giraffe. We were even lucky enough to see a Courtship dance with two Blue Crane, something which Craig has only see three times in the 20 years he has lived on the Reserve. Ironically though, another of the real highlights was Craig himself. His knowledge of and passion for the Reserve and its animals was infectious and the simplest questions would be answered with really clear and comprehensive answers. He seemed to take a genuine pleasure in sharing his knowledge and we felt that we had engaged with his re-wilding project rather than just being passive observers. Add to that his charming personality, and it was a late afternoon we will treasure for a long time. Utterly brilliant and great value for money.
