This is a very popular restaurant, being patronised across all races, and it is easy to see why. The food is of great quality, the staff are friendly and humorous. Sadly on our visity, that dreaded South African curse followed us and there was no electricity due to loadshedding. This meant that due to a small backup generator the friers, Coffee machine and a couple of other appliances could not work. Thus I could not get a Cuppachino for the love of money. Sadly the restaurant does not compromise on quality and I would have been happy with a sachet Cuppa. I could not get a Focacia as a starter, due to Pizza oven not working. So bearing in mind a couple of challenges, we made the most of it as did all the other guests. Many of them were taking photos of themselves. I thought of those that have not been fortunate to dine there and have a few photos of the food. The Olives were delicious as an appetizer. So much so that they were gobbled by the time I arrived later. My father had a Hallumi cheese starter that was grilled. He would have prefered it fried, but enjoyed it nevertheless. My mother and her carer shared a chicken liver starter, that was delicious. I had to have a nibble and see for myself. Then came the maincourses of a 300 g Rump Steak with veg, as there were no chips/fries; a Kingklip Odessy topped with a creamy prawn sauce; an Ostrich in a sauce with veg and I had the Pasta Romano, with Butternut, Chicken and bacon. The only dish that did not have a clean plate was my mother's as she was adequately nourished by starter plus main course and left 3 mouthfuls to take home and enjoy later. The carer asked if anyone wanted to share a cheesecake with her and I said no, she must have her own desert, which she scoffed. I had an Kahlua Pancake dish served with vanilla icecream and chopped nuts. Personally I thought the dish lacked the Kahlua taste, but scoffed and enjoyed it all the same. My mother had the Creme Brulee. Now I have only been harsh with a 4 star review and that is only due to loadshedding and by no means a poor reflection of the usually 5 star venue. I will certainly be back there again.
