Was pleasantly surprised by this museum. We took a group of girls for a museum sleepover and the staff were wonderful. Everyone had a great time and learned many new things!

Today's morning excursion was to the old Transvaal museum of natural history - now the national museum of natural history. I last visited 30 years ago. It's even better now. Spotless. Beautiful presentation of thousands of exhibits. I was really impressed. Family loved it.
We watched a custodian remove a heavy glass front to a bird display in the Austin Roberts hall of birds. He carefully dusted each bird / exhibit with a smallish paintbrush, then carefully vacuumed away all dust. Such care! Amazing,!
The whole museum was utterly clean. Beautifully labelled. It was joyful to visit.
Parking can be a problem and the museum is NOT wherelchair friendly.
While in Pretoria it is a MUST visit

Ohhh this place is such a national treasure just right our noses as people from Pretoria and it is also very affordable. Had a very pleasant educational experience.
Entrance fee is R45 adult and kids R30.

Great Museum to take kids to. Especially if they enjoy dinosaurs. The museum allows for some really large displays like the elephant in the entrance hall amd the whale outside in the museum garden. Sadly like many museums in South Africa, the displays displays have not kept up with the digitalisation and there are so many innovation that could be introduced to spice up the animals. That said, luckily being a natural history museum means that most of the displays don't really age. The museum is kept very tidy and the staff are friendly, helpful and especially engaging with kids. This is a great outing with the kids for a Saturday morning.

Amazing experience! Very beautiful museum! I only recently learnt of SA having a natural history museum, and I am so happy to have explored it! Such amazing exhibits. The staff were extremely friendly. The gautrain bus also stops right outside the museum for easy access.

Very awesome, we also had a behind the scenes tour. Crazy amount of work to be done with very little resources.
