If you are an urban hiker or a bird watcher and you have time during the week, then this is the place to visit. (It is quiet during the week). The reserve opens at 6h00 in the morning. The different routes are well marked. Although gravel paths - it is quite easy to hike.

Love the outdoors.Joined up with 2 young adults and their kids on the yellow trail hike at Kloofendal.Kids enjoyed themselves.Been there a few times, and to my surprise the place was quite full

Try to go very early or maybe after 10am. Entry is free, and the venue opens quite early.For the bird watchers out there..definitely the place to go.After the hike u can grab your cooler box for a nice self packed breakfast.

Really nice walks. Lots of routes and you can do your own route as the routes often cross reach other. Some fairly step boys but not too strenuous. Nice to see families enjoining the outdoors together... and its free, with very helpful staff

Went there with my partner and our son for a morning hike, we opted for the longest/most challenging one available and that is the yellow trail which is about 3.5 km. The trail is well marked and was fun to navigate with great views of the surroundings once you get to the top of the mountain, there is a map of the area at the entrance as well as various places along the route so you always knows where you are which is great if you are a 1st timer and do not know the layout of the reserve. We saw various birds as well as some antelope along the route which was a nice bonus. We had a nice family picnic after our hike on the grounds which are spacious and quite well maintained. If they can have a playground area for kids with jungle gyms, slides, swings, monkey bars etc it would be great, i believe the place is big enough to accomodate this without issue but all in all enjoyed the place and the hike, would recommend to anyone to spend atleast a day here just to get away from the hustle u0026 bustle plus entrance is free so why not :)

Beautiful hiking trail, not to difficult. The trail markings needs some upgrade. One minute you on the Yellow trail and then you suddenly find yourself on the red trail. Actually still get something free in life, this hike will cost you nothing

Our first visit to Kloofendal Nature Reserve and we will definitely be back. We decided on a morning hike with our 4 year old and 10 year old children. It was lovely to see so many families hiking. The trails are marked but the higher you go, it becomes a maze which was not so bad. Everyone just had so much fun being outdoors.

Great Nature Reserve with the most amazing chambers of nature. Long dark paths with long trees, a water base and not shabby of a view in Jhb. Amazing for trail running and really great for groups. Security personnel on sight.
