Really wonderful retirement village that's got facilities for people to live independently in lovely houses with private gardens or for people who need carers.
There is also a hospital section on sight and it's conveniently located right next door to Edenvale hospital.
There is a clubhouse, a lake with some lovely walks, a quite extensive library and a games room.
There are often concerts and events at the clubhouse.
My grandparents moved there when my grandfather was too ill to live their sprawling multilevel family house which my grandfather had been extremely reluctant to leave as it was the house he grew up in and his children grew up in, including my mother.
However, Inyoni is so pleasant and convenient and comfortable that my whole family was extremely happy with the decision.
My grandmother made many friends among her her neighbours and is still happy there after my grandfather unfortunately passed away 4 years ago.
Her house is big enough that she can still host family dinners every Friday night (a Jewish family tradition which she didn't want to give up and we could not hold it elsewhere when my grandfather was ill.
My grandmother is able to have the whole family over for a sit down dinner - sometimes up to 20 people! And she loves working in her garden and also hosts a book club in her lounge so the open plan entertainment area is by no means all taken up by the dining room table.
My grandmother is very independent and never feels like she's living in a retirement home as the section she lives in is more like a gated community than a village for elderly residents.
She even has 2 spare bedrooms for when she babysits my nieces (1 and 3)and young cousins (4 and 6)
It is a very friendly community and the grounds are really very beautiful.
The high care unit is very good but situated on the other side of the lake so that it's not always looming over the older inhabitants like a portent of doom.
My grandparents, and now my grandmother have been very happy there for almost 10 years now and we visit her frequently.
The security is also first class with 2 security guards on duty at the gate at all times and many guards patrolling in vehicles and on foot in pairs 24 hours a day.
I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is retiring and can no longer maintain a large property whether they are 65 or 96.
