Great sushi from a small unassuming restaurant! I don't typically regard sushi as my ideal food to order because the portion size generally doesn't warrant the cost. However, Active Sushi offers three variations of an all-you-can-eat buffet (R 199.00; 299.00; and 399.00) which was made available to us at lunch time on Tuesday, despite the menu only advertising it as available from 17:30 — great service accommodating such a request! I highly recommend taking at least one opportunity and getting the R 299.00 option and sampling all the signature dishes!

Amazing spot for sushi. If you are a sushi lover, this is definitely a must for you!
They are super affordable and the food is so delicious and you can really taste how fresh everything is.
Plus, it's in a great location on a less busy street and the space of the restaurant itself is very lovely. The big glass wall really makes it feel like you're sitting outside when you're inside and makes it more spacious.
The only negative is that the service could be better - our waiter stepped in and out of an incredibly unnecessary and random attitude at different points during our visit at the restaurant.
But other than that, it's a pleasant experience.

Some of the freshest sushi I've ever tasted; unique and affordable too! Plus I love that the Buitenkant branch never gets too crowded on an afternoon (at least that I have experienced), making it the perfect place to relax and enjoy delicious sushi (and other Asian dishes) with friends and/or fam. I would recommend the buffet option if going there for sushi.

The Sushi that we had was the best that we have ever had. The service was excellent and the staff were very friendly. Ricardo who assisted us, listened to what our likes were and created a platter which exceeded our expectations. We will definitely be going back again.

Exceptional Signature sushi offerings. Unique and fresh, Active offers a cosy, intimate sushi spot in Cape Town. If sushi is not your thing, they also have a variety of other Asian inspired dishes.

The staff are really friendly and accommodating but the sushi itself was horrible. The rice was wet and off (had a sour taste that not even the soya sauce could mask). The overpowering sour and densely packed rice was the main feature of all the available sushi-ratio of rice to any filling was grossly out of proportion. The salmon was washed out and without flavor. The prawn had no flavour at all and felt soggy(we thought the off rice was masking the flavour but you could not even taste the prawn when you removed it from the sushi and ate it alone). Could not eat much because there was so much sour rice that we were put off and even left pieces on the plate.
