Stayed here for the 3rd time in 20 years and there were good reasons to come back: nice accommodation, unique setting and lovely staff. However, on booking I was promised a discount for booking on their own site. On going back and forth on dates and accommodation type I missed filling the discount code. I immediately mailed Waterkant, but the answer felt like: ‘That is your own mistake, haha.’ They just wouldn’t apply the discount for booking on their site, whereas I did just that. Bummer. Will I stay here a fourth time? Probably not.

We have made a booking for 4 nights, at De Waterkant House, for 4 people - checking in 25/04.

During the night of the 27th of April, an intruder has managed to enter the house without breaking in, went to one of the bedrooms, attacked our friends, hit them badly, and stole a handbag full of valuables - phone, cash, credit card, watch etc.

We have sent emails after our stay to raise the attention of management on the following
1 - it is clear that this is an inside job. Which means that your safety policy is lacking basic consideration. Shocking for an accommodation of that level.

2- the entrance is working with 2 codes that remained unchanged after the theft, putting us at risk for another 24h after the attack. Which is completely unacceptable.

3- our friends were really shocked and still have bruises and traces of the attack and have not been offered any kind of compensation.

Be sure that the event is obviously traumatic, and the way De Waterkant manage safety of their guests is not at all at the right standard !

We are extremely disappointed and shocked... Looking at the costs and trauma encountered by our friends, a financial compensation would be the least decent proposal. We did not even get an excuse or an email...

No not water in my room and plenty of excuses.
They offered to let me shower in another unit across the street, which was am impossible "solution". They never even offered a small refund of my payment, which would have been the right thing to do after being unable to take a hot shower after a very hot day and night.

An earthy, cosy and secure residential extravaganza amidst the very cosmopolitan, happening Cape Town. De Waterkant village doesn't loose out on the perks of the urban metropolitan city despite being safely, quietly tucked away in one corner. It taught me a very urban, quaint and laidback way of living the true urban life.

Lovely situated and very cosy area.
The flat was roomy but not all lamps were working which does not make a good impression.
Would go again though
