Very exciting flavours and textures at Exhibit A. The small team was helpful and enthusiastic, which helped make the night memorable. A few of the dishes, I could have gone without, such as the panna cotta and the "dessert egg" which didn't tie into the overall menu as well as the other dishes. The rest of the table may not necessarily agree.

While Exibit A is fairly new in the fine dining space and likely has a few changes, tweaks and decisions ahead to fully find their feet - I can't stress enough how well the staff treated us and how this on its own made me want to come back to the restaurant. However, I will likely wait for a few months as they develop and adjust the menu for a smoother journey.

Had high expectations of this place, but was unfortunately disappointed.
Arrived to an almost empty restaurant on a Saturday night at 20:00.

We start out getting the same presentation in the lines of 'welcome, I will be your waiter tonight' from two different waiters, as if they couldn't agree. And they both refileed our water by a drop about 5 times within 5 minutes. The waiter we ended up with just had a weird vibe, not very pleasant although formal. He presented us with only one option of a 12 course. Normally we would go for that with a wine pairing. But it was also weird that he didnt present us with the other options which are outlined, namely 5 and 7 courses. By this time, we didn't even feel like staying, and opted for the seven course and thought we'd just make the best of it.

In short the food was creatively presented throughout the meal, but the quality not as expected. Even their signature cigar bread dish was dissapointing as the 'cigar' was just a cold piece of bread. Some of the dishes had to much gelatine I think, which stole a bit of taste from other ingredients.

Always a pleasant touch that chefs are part of the service though! And the 'caprese' was excellent!

Interior gives as weird as a vibe as the service, and just seems oddly put together.

Best meal we’ve had not only in Cape Town, but one of the best in the world, hands down. We live most of the year in New York then spend at least 2 months in South Africa every year and have eaten at ALL of the top restaurants.
La Colombe, Test Kitchen, Green House, Waterkloof all great, but this is something else.
More in line with the quality of Eleven Madison, The French Laundry and Cella di Rocca, but as enchanting, interesting and sometimes mind blowing as places like The Fat Duck, Enigma, Alinea and evening El Bulli from way back in the day.
The service is great because all of the main chefs visit the table and explain in fine detail, every little element going on in the dish.
The wine list is huge, a bit daunting if I’m honest, but the head waiter and chefs know there wine and can direct you in the perfect direction.
Value for money wise, again best we’ve had, but we’ll see if they crank up there prices after next year’s awards.
We were slightly confused as to what menu to go for, but it works like this...
5 course (R590) u0026 7 course (R790) menu available for lunch, 12:00-15:00.
5 course available at 18:00 (strictly) for a pre-theatre deal they have, 7 u0026 12 course (R1490) available Tuesday-Thursday and only the 12 course available on Friday and Saturday closed Sunday/Monday although they said that may change.
Venue is pretty contemporary which fits the theme of the cuisine to be fair, lots of modern art and even some graffiti, the playlist was pleasant and the toilets nicely finished with quality towels, air freshener, toilet roll and soap.
They weren’t effected by the load shedding which is amazing as this has currently been an issue.
All in all 5 stars and will be sending our clients there, we’ve booked again for before we leave, absolutely amazing experience, we’ll done.

Last year we experienced the chefs previous endeavor at Gaté restaurant at Quoin rock which was exceptional. Great service, great venue and even better food. So when we heard about the chefs new restaurant we were exited to give it a try.

Exhibit A , however is a slight contrast where standards and atmosphere sadly do not match.

Our experience as a whole was rather dull and we felt that the food does not meet the hefty price tag as it did at the previous venue.

My wife and myself decided to try this new spot that opened up in Bree street last week.

Well all i can say is what amazing experience, from the minute we walked into the Green with Room with the most amazing art hung on the walls, to the hilariously fun edible Balloon at the end.
We opted for the 12 course tasting with wine pairing, and can honestly that i could not find fault in anything. even the wines were paired perfectly with each course, ranging from Both Local to international pairings.

The top hitters of our experience would have
To be the Marron for myself, which was elegantly accompanied with vanilla and apple, and for my wife, the cheese course which was a cheddar ice cream, blue cheese fudge and foam, with a Chive oil.

This place is sure to go far, and cannot wait to see what next year will bring for the Restaurant.

We will return soon thats for sure.

Was there on New Years Eve, we booked not realizing that the menu was twice the price, but noticed the menu on social media before hand.
We very nearly cancelled, but then thought, ah, whatever, it’s New Years Eve perhaps live a little.
We understood why on the night as the menu had fresh truffle, lobster tail, foie gras, wagyu, king crab and scallops. All VERY premium products and very good quality wine to match!
Service was great, well informed and not clinical which is nice for a change.
Loved the decor, really out of the norm and the green in very calming indeed.
All in all, amazing experience and extremely tasty food.
We’re going to book again before returning home.

Exibit A is not only an exciting new edition to the cape town food scene but also a treat for the senses. You're warmly greeted by chef and owner Rikku which is a wonderful touch. Upon entering you are met with a beautiful interior and warm atmosphere. The food is next level. It challenges you to rethink everything you know. The wine list is extensive but not overwhelming. Right on Bree street makes for an accessible and effortless find. We had a fantastic evening and can't wait to got back
