One of the most iconic wine farms on the South African wine scene is the Groot Constantia Wine Estate. This farms' quality and legacy speaks for itself, and it's a definite must-visit. There are numerous things to do from wine tastings, cellar tours and relaxing at one of the restaurants, to visiting the museum and learning the history of the farm and the Cape. We started off with a cellar tour and wine tasting, and thereafter proceeded to grab a late lunch at the "Jonkerhuis" (reviewed separately). The wine tasting was very casual and included a range of different varietals so you are almost guaranteed of finding something you like. Their cellar tours are scheduled for certain time slots which I can highly recommend you do, as you gain more respect for the wines after you realize all the work that goes into it. The tastings were affordable, the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable, and we had an overall great experience.

A bit confusing as were we should go for wine tastings. Ended up at a restaurant and then managed to find our way to taste room.

Was a lovely experience further. Good background of wines was given, wine pairing with chocolate is well priced and we got to take home our glasses. Always a plus.

Alwasy a treat. Staying in Constantia it’s easy to take for granted the sheer size of this estate so close to Cape Town, not to mention the history and legacy it hosts.
I’m a eager fan of their reds, and the whites are just as inviting. The tasting room is spacious, generous in its pour and most importantly, they let you take your glass home. Taking home with you a piece of their history coupled with your new memory.
I love taking visiting friends and family to the estate, not only for tastings, but for walks around the vineyard with my furry friends just after sunrise.
Two great eateries on the Estate too!

A must see. Close to the city as well.
Lots of history and great atmosphere. Wine tasting and chocolate pairing is delicious and our guide, Alba was amazing.

Lovely experience. We didn't do the tour, just the wine tasting ???? which was great, you get to taste 5 different wines and keep the glass ???????? There's an option to do wine tasting with chocolate pairing but that's a separate fee. We booked with the sight seeing bus which included a free tour and wine tasting at Groot Constantia, so it didn't come with the chocolate pairing.

A wine I absolutely loved was the 2018 Cape Ruby dessert wine, BEST I've ever had!

Expect to see beautiful views and gardens with ducks gracing the water and possibly expecting food from you.

There's a restaurant on site as well. Overall, it's definitely worth the visit for a small group

A good experience, but the service was slow and they didn’t have much to add about each wine - just a 10 second description. The chocolate was very tasty! The tour was better (about 30 Mins) and our guide was very informative. We did not purchase any wine.

The oldest wine producing farm in South Africa certainly hasn’t forgotten how to make stupendous wines! A visit to their wine tasting room will be time we’ll spent (allow at least an hour), followed by lunch at Simon’s restaurant - you won’t be sorry!
