Can't believe it took so long before visiting Groot Constantia. It has beautiful views of the vineyards and has a very interesting history which is well explained in the museum and the cellar. The cellar tour was interesting and we enjoyed the wine tasting. We even got to taste the wine Napoleon drank. The food at Simons was also superb. Would definitely go back and recommend a visit.

I went to Groot Constantia using the red bus, which was a great ride. They give you ear phones whereby you can listen to the history of how the wine making started, who started it and so forth. I did my wine tasting...5 wines from which you can buy any other wines you might love. Also got a free glass wine as a souvenir. You are allowed to even walk through some of the vines and there are restaurants and a local clothing within which you can buy, sit and relax.

Absolutely love visiting this historic and scenic place, it is always very clean with different restaurants, wine tastings and a museum. It's dog friendly and the Simon's restaurant even offers a water bowl for dogs!

Certainly this is one of the top venues in Cape Town that you have to visit.

The environment is fantastic, the gorgeous vies of the vineyards are wonderful, and it's a treat on relax on manicured lawns.

However, it does get busy - especially in hot weather - and parking is at a premuim. So it's best to get there early to ensure you get a spot.

Also, if you're new, there isn't enough clear signage to guide you round which can be a challenge.

For a place like this with such a long history, service at the Simon's restaurant was a bit uninspiring as our group waited way to long for table service.

Wheelchair users are able to navigate their way around most of the venue.
