Mom was taken for a scope at 9am in the morning heard nothing from anyone and after waiting and waiting and waiting i called at 5pm and ask the nurse in ward F if mom was okay and she replies your mom is in intensive care i dont know why but you can call the number 021590... And speak to the nurse in charge the nurse in charge cant answer as to why neither me or my sister was informed of a operation taking place as we were only told by mom bout the scope. Who gave permission for a operation if it was booked only as a scope and if it was an emergency surely her daughters has the right to know bout it????

We had a terrible experience there when my mom went for a procedure. After the op she had a small heart attack and was sent to ICU. After 5 days in ICU and still connected to a catheter, her stats were normal. Yet they kept her there because her heart docter wanted to do an Angiogram. He kept on delaying it with excuses like they had an emergency, then all of a sudden my mom could not make her own decisions and he waited for us to give the go ahead and by the 8th days, when he said that he could not find an anthestetic, because they were all on holiday, we asked again that she must be placed in General ward. Her Med Scheme were sucked dry. Finally the internist gave permission to transfer her to the General Ward.
In the General ward she asked for help to go to the bathroom. The nurse replied that she had 18 other patients to take care of and that my mom is not in ICU anymore and they do not give bedpans.
She wet her bed and had to lay there until a nurse came to help her. This is unprofessional and unacceptable. I shall never take her there again.

ZERO RATED
If I could give a 0 star rating I would. From the lack of nursing "competence" to lack of communication, compassion and overall general attitude of staff at this so called hospital. It's horrific. They should (and I'm following this up) be reported to the SA Medical and Dental Council. The list is endless of general ward complaints. State run hospital in disguise

Almost every process is delayed from registration to admission while at the ward. Most nursing staff are friendly depending if you are in the right ward at the time. Hospital is outdated and overall service is poor.

Hi I would like to put in a complaint and I hope that it doesn't fall on deaf ears. My daughter was admitted on the 12th April.

The facilities are not up to standard, you should really visit mediclinic Louis Liopolt. The food is terrible...TASTELESS!!! feel like they they cooked the proteins in water and throw gravy over.

The facilities looks like a government hospital masked as a private hospital. Still old lockers like the one you find at somerset hospital.

During my wife's stay at Louis Liopolt, the pediatric ward. They have a different menu every day, the food was great. She had her own room (one bed), own bathroom and shower and the staff was great.

In terms of costs, you charge exactly the same however the facilities are like day and night .

Nearly suffocated in the non ventilated room. 6 patients shoved into ward F with no air circulation. Temperatures was so escalated and with a combination of pipes shoved in all over plus heavy meds led to an anxiety attack without getting assistance. Sheets was replaced once with me staring daily at the blood stain I left behind after been rolled over by the physio. Food shoved over you in a trolley after you had an back operation. With no way of reaching it flat on you back. Night sister the first night shouting at you if you want her to lose her job because I apparently moved to much after the operation. In my defense I was in absolute agony. Loosing my dentures with I won't be seen dead without. An angel found it for me after a 2 day search. She was the only angel in the hospital to had so much patience with me. Taking my hand and handling me as a new born baby. Sister Luane Mannel, your name will be printed in my memory for ever.the hospital is blessed to have you. I had to leave the hospital earlier but I still feel the anxiety
