A previous visit to Sushi Box Newlands was just as we were exiting the stringent laws of COVID Lockdown, only allowing for takeout orders. The result was a meagre, disastrous failure, thus it has taken well over two years, until today to choose to venture forth and see if Sushi Box is up to standard comparable to it’s heyday beginnings … in earlier days remembering our regular cravings and their scrumptious food, vibrant waitrons’ friendly greetings and personal interactions.
Alas today was just a sad inedible untidy vision of ‘standards-dropped’. So-much-so that the three of us could NOT be tempted to complete the emptying of the sloppy platters.
Sushi was unappetizing, totally unrelated and incomparable to the incredible sushi that was once upon a time, served us in times past.
We arrived at noon, in the hopes of finding a vacant table, yet needn’t have worried, as much of our time spent there, we were the only occupied table, until two more tables eventually filled. Seems gone are the days of high demand at this forlorn venue. Service? Lacking!…. Oh! The drinking glasses had a distinct fishy smell.
A ps:
Replying to the owner’s response: thanks for your response. No need for further/ email correspondence, we won’t be returning. I DO suggest to you though that Sushi Box Newlands needs to ‘cleanse its palate’ (start afresh by upping its game…intense re-training of its staff: from chefs to waitrons).
