We decided to visit the restaurant at Vinyard Hotel with our parents. Strict Covid protocols were in place. The staff were all wearing masks, they took your temperature when you came in and they went out of their way to ensure social distancing. The food was incredible and really reasonably priced for what it is! Having a newborn, I was on edge but they had a lovely changing room which was a great addition :). There are also plenty of vegetarian options!

Lovely restaurant.

We had afternoon tea, the tea was great. The treats didn’t really blow us away. Overall a nice experience.

The setup is very simple and elegant. The staff is friendly too. They tend to disappear for a while, but good people.

The Square has a magnificent setting and is in a position to offer so much more than it actually does. We arrived on a Wednesday evening and the restaurant was relatively empty. The waiter was attentive and took good care of us but that was where it ended. Bread was served, straight out of the fridge. We started with Saldanha Bay mussels, well presented but bland and boring served with Barlotti beans. Yes, sadly, the limited menu did not give us much to choose from. The Lamb Shank that followed was tender and delicious, their saving grace, but the dollop of ice cold Tabbouleh salad that accompanied the the meat was disappointing. Annoyingly, half way through the meal, the staff started to remove the candles and lay the tables for breakfast. As I said, they could do so much more....

The Vineyard hotel is always a venue that delivers, class and value are the two prerequisites that I often look for at an establishment, and the square restaurant ticks both boxes. Decor is tasteful and situated in the centre of the hotel, one realises where its name is derived from. The menu could be a little more extensive but the options available do cater for most dietary requirements. Pricing is fair, not much more than most eateries around Cape town. Staff are friendly and rather attentive, my only gripe being that condiments were brought in stages. All and all a lovely experience and brilliant establishment. Try book for the outside restaurant if you can, or laze at the pool when the sun is out. The hotel offers something for everyone. Value for money anywhere else is hard to beat.

Great setting with lovely decor that spills in from the hotel and the nearby surrounds, the service was excellent from the moment we made our booking, the chefs special was a 2 course meal that was perfectly presented and very tasteful,
My favourite part of the evening must have been the talented pianist that completed the dining experience providing the perfect ambience.

Absolutely stunning setting! One of the most beautiful places that I've ever had a meal at in Cape Town. The wait staff was also very pleasant to deal with. Unfortunately, the food was not so stunning. My burger was extremely grisly, overcooked, and doused in an overly-sweet barbecue sauce. I paid 130 rand when any of the best burger bars in Cape Town typically charge about 80-90 rand for a basic cheeseburger. For a hotel that is held to such a high standard, I believe that their restaurant should as well.

The best thing about this place is the setting. It's absolutely amazing to find a piece of nature like this in the middle of the busy town. There are green lawns with strolling tortoises all around, blooming trees and spectacular views of the Table Mountain. We came once for a dinner and once for a lunch. Both times the meals were very average. Last time we had vegetarian burger, beef burger and beef sandwich. All of the 3 meals were missing some sauce, so dry, we had to ask for extra mayo so we could swallow easily. Maybe it's better just for an afternoon tea or drinks, nice selection of craft beers on tap. Also it's usually very busy and everything takes forever here, so be patient with the staff.
