I've always only been to The Dark Horse for a quick drink before moving onto dinner. It took friends from JHB to suggest meeting there for something to eat before I realized there was even a menu board on the wall! ????
And oh my goodness - What have I been missing! Their tapas dishes are well portioned and out-of-this-world tasty, with a nice variety to choose from. My definite favorites were the thick cut chips and the pulled pork bitterballen.
The bar / restaurant was not as full as I usually experience it, so I cannot comment on how efficient the food service would be if it was full. But on our evening out, the food actually arrived quicker than our drinks order.
One can sit outside facing the street on bar chairs, inside on couches and benches, or upstairs with breath taking views of the mountain. Nice vibey atmosphere.
