Book in advance for a great teppanyaki experience. Unfortunately our noodles tasted like it was drenched in tomato sauce, that being the only downside. Our kingklip, beef fillet and veggies tasted just fine. The special sauce made with fresh chilli was great.

The place is really nice. The food is amazing, service is good, outside sitting area is a vibe so is the indoor sitting area.. Almost has a rustic aesthetic to it, I'd go there everyday if I could. I forgot to take a picture of the menu but the prices are pretty good too.. 100% would recommend. I don't recommend the sake though ????????Lol

Waiting for our waitron to take our drinks orders, as well as having to wait for our food, was slightly annoying, but the food more than made up for it. The chicken teppanyaki was great, and the sushi we had for starters was delicious and fresh!

DIVINE teppanyaki! It comes with veg or chips, get the veg!! Good enough to fill you but add rice as its so good! Cocktails also super great. The chicken teppanyaki is so flavourful and you get a whole show!

We visited this place with high hopes to try some great Japanese cuisine. But very very disappointed with the taste. The staff suggested the sushi and prawn and chowmein as we are visiting them for the first time. All the food was sweet in taste, seems like sugar and soya sauce tossed only. Overall food experience is horrible.

Went here for my 30th birthday expecting it to be an authentic Japenese experience, but it was far from it. Worst meal I've had. We ordered the udon tempura noodle soup and it tasted terrible, it was served with ONE tempura prawn and a few slices of tempura vegetables, including the tiniest piece of brinjal and the butt end of a green pepper that I usually discard as kitchen waste. Vegetables don't cost much. Not worth it at all. We asked for a refund. The rest of the food tasted average at best. I have been to an authentic japenese restaurant before and the food at Daruma Umhlanga did not come close to authentic Japanese food.

Everything I expected from a Teppanyaki style restaurant. The service was great and Teppanyaki chefs were highly skilled. Food was top quality and also reasonably priced considering the rarity of this type of restaurant in Durban. Only thing that I would like to see is the addition of basic menu items to accommodate kids.
