Great selection at affordable prices. They sell groceries loose.so no need to buy everything in bulk. Save about 10% on my monthly food bill shopping here. Also the aisles are massive so you can shop at leisure without overcrowding.
The queues seem longer than at other places but it moves really quickly. We had 5 minute checkout time from the time we joined the queue till checkout. Not sure what the purpose of the security at the door who check the slips after checkout, that was the only unpleasant experience but overall, it's a great place to shop. The in store announcers also alerted shoppers to some awesome deals happening in the store.

The experience was great until we got to the Point of Sale. Cashier clearly did not want to assist. Not a greeting or a smile. Couldn't reach over to get the products on the side of the till. Asked my hubby to push it to her but mumbled like it was an effort to speak. I know retail is hard. I have worked in the industry for over 30 years. It really took a huge effort for her to even scan and let us pay for the goods. It was our last interaction of the shopping and tainted all the good service throughout the store

I guess good old Makro Germiston bottle store now fits right in with the extremely poor customer service that one experiences at most consumer outlets and government/quasi government institutions, these days. A lot of staff standing around talking to one another yes, but no one to serve the public! They continue to demand more money but are not prepared to work for it.
Very disappointing and I know that any mention of poor experiences merely falls on deaf ears. However the young lady dealing with the pensioner queue in the main store, was a pleasure to deal with. What a contrast!! I was in the bottle store twice and both times experienced the very same poor service.

Staff mess around on their phones in the bathroom. Tellers aren't by their stations and they do not even greet you. Makro Alberton is way better in terms of staff. Never coming back here again. Sorry.

On the 16th of October which happened to be my wife birthday,we were at makro Germiston the cashier didnt greet us she had attitude,but we continue with the payment process,she packed our stuff and I thanked her after, she was like mmm,I asked what was that again ,she spoke to her colleague and said friend do you remember this guy,was like excuse me, and she was like you tried to get me fired and guess what nothing happened with your previous complain. Strange enough wasn't trying to get her fired as if was gonna get paid for that,secondly on the day I complain about her bad service and attitude.When her manager was called she told me she was on another written warning.Germiston stuff mostly are rude and black managers do not know how to deal with their stuff, they're just window dressers to be honest.I guess stuff is more important than costumers in that shop.i live in greenstone I'd rather drive to Woodmead for better costumer service.All they know is to take our phone numbers with no follow up,just to brush us off as costumers.

Why are there no managers at this branch, unacceptable customer service and bad attitudes from staff. Service standards has declined since covid, what is going on!?!

Very frustrating if you need a replacement or new card as it cannot be issued because of load shedding. I've been there 3 times in 2 days now.
