It was raining during our visit and I brought my dog with, they offered seats inside and outside. So I assume it’s pet friendly.

The waiter was kind enough to bring a water bowl for the pets.

Eisbein was perfect. They serve generous amounts of side dish foods.

Oysters was sub par and wouldn’t recommend as they were quite small.

I’d visit again to try other dishes.

If you want some good quality food at a reasonable price with a stunning ocean view this is the place to go. I had the calamari wrap and it was delicious. We had an amazing view with a good atmosphere. The menu was full of different types of seafoods and some interesting desserts including Swiss cheese cake. The menu was a bit difficult to read because of its font and it was trying a bit to hard with a pirate theme. The waiter Givemore was excellent and helped us with everything and told us that the food was gonna take a while because they make everything fresh.

The vegan burger was delicious and the toppings only complimented the taste. At first glance, it looked a bit small, but it ended up being the perfect serving size. The texture of the chips, however, was a bit ‘rubber-y’ and could have been cooked for longer. The atmosphere and view of the ocean and mountain also added to the overall enjoyable experience.

Tourist trap!
Good location but the food is not good. The pasta with seafood was almost like a soup because they‘ve easily put a whole pack of cream in it.
The service is ok but we got the wrong food and the waitress couldn’t take the food back. (Or she would have to pay for it)
The seafood basket was under average for a price of 180ZAR.
Can definitely not recommend.

After a busy week, we decided to go back to The Wooden Barrel for their Jack Black jug of beer special, lunch and to enjoy the live music.
We were advised that that all the beer taps were not working and were encouraged to order the pale ale instead.
We watched a poor gentleman begging, I mean praying hands and all... for service!
After looking around at the state of this one restaurant, we became extremely irritated that a restaurant would bring down the standards of this wonderful waterfront esplanade. We decided NOT to order the food. If the tables and restaurant outside are so dirty, can you imagine the state if the kitchen!!!

It was disappointing to say the least. We then received the bill only to see that the 4 beers ordered were R50 each, when we weren't even advised of the price when ordering. The choices of restaurants on the waterfront are amazing and we only visit the Wooden Barrel because of their amazing specials.
Shame on the owners.

Givemore... you were doing your best to be a good waiter and have always given us great service... the fault is not yours!
