I've read many of the previous reviews and wonder if anyone at Netcare CARES or even addresses the apparent trend of poor service.

No one answers calls directed to the number provided on the website. I was in the emergency room last night for a minimum of 5 hours attempting to get my husband admitted. The staff admittedly confirmed that Friday nights are busy and so it was surprising to learn there's only ONE doctor on call.

There were a number of other patients and family members irate about receiving no communication and similarly waiting for hours on end. It's frustrating as this is supposed to be a private hospital but the service overall is clearly of a subpar standard. It's ironic that the word care is in the hospital's name because patients and family members do not seem to feel a sense of care. It's merely a platitude.

There are some friendly and wonderful staff that are beacons of light here and there, but overall the Netcare Waterfall ER is the most disappointing encounter we've had the displeasure of experiencing. If one goes through the intake records of other patients attended to last night, I'm confident there will be a similar experience conveyed... Sadly.

So my question is what is the hospital doing to address all these poor reviews?

The lack of urgency and compassion at this hospital is shocking. I was on the brink of being unconscious and the doctor was being so rude to my wife and I and was brushing us off when we told her what happened. She was so nonchalant and you would think the nurse that was helping us was the actual doctor. Dr Mouton should be ashamed of herself.

If I got into a car accident and Netcare Waterfall was the closest hospital to me I would rather asked to be taken somewhere else. AVOID this hospital. It might be in a nice world class area but you can do probably get better treatment at a government hospital. What a shame.

What a disappointment!! I strongly suggest anyone getting booked into hospital to avoid this one at all costs!

ICU staff are amazing, for them it is definitely a 10/10. But once my dad had been transferred from ICU to the normal ward, it was a constant battle and fight to get the nurses to give him the proper care.
None of them have a single idea what’s going on. You have to beg for them just to give him his medication when he is supposed to have it. After being transferred from the ICU at around lunch time, he still had not had his drip placed (that infuses his antibiotics) by 7pm. (Still never got the drip)
And when querying where his meds are, or when he is going to get them you are “complaining”.

Or when he was supposed to have a catheter placed, and a whole day later there is still no catheter???
Or just the fact that family drove over an hour to visit my father, and were chased out of the ward because it is hospital policy that it is 2 visitors per hour. (It would have been nice to see this information on the hospital website or even by the entrance before family drive over an hour one way to visit!)

I strongly suggest the board look at providing their nurses with training on bedside manner and how to do their jobs properly to insure their patients are receiving the care they need and that family members are not running through the hospital trying to find their sick family members medication during the 1 hr visiting time.

I can only just say thank you to the handful of nurses that were the saving grace for my father, that went above what is required of them. Sarah, Thembi, sibosiso, the the woman with the beautiful voice.

I can guarantee my father will not be returning to this hospital.

I am very disappointed with the nursing staff at Netcare Waterfall City Hospital, "The Montrose Fall Ward".

The word "Nurse" means a person trained to care for the sick or infirm, especially in a hospital.

I don't think that the nurses at that hospital have the best interest of their patients at heart. The nurses at that hospital must be re-trained to take care of the sick.

My mother nearly went into depression because of the treatment she received from the nurses at Netcare Waterfall City Hospital. They are so unprofessional and they didn't care that my mother couldn't do anything for herself. Instead, my mother felt that the nurses gave her medication to drug her so that she couldn't wake up. She was always sleeping because we raised a concern that she was not attended at all.

THIS IS A SERIOUS CONCERN AND I URGE MANAGEMENT TO ADDRESS THIS MATTER AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

I came in when an op got infected and was in so much pain. My husband and my newborn was with me. From the entrance another patient saw me and asked a staff member for help on where to send me and her response was that it's not her job and she she turned and walked away. An emergency dr came and helped me to the admin section and told her to prioritise me. We waited 4 hours with absolutely no feedback or update amd they were not that busy. When my husband complained instead of getting an response pr explanation he was met with so much of attitude instead. It honestly felt like I would have been better off at a non private hospital the way we were treated. It was as if we're not paying an arm and leg for treatment. We were treated poorly afterwards until we saw the dr. The Drs were good and very helpful but the rest of the staff really need to improve.

The best orthopedic surgeon. He carefully attends to every problem presented to him and very humble. I would actually give him 6 stars or more if there was that kind of rating. May God bless him for his patients.

After several disappointing experiences at this Netcare, I will never go back. The night nurses during my stay there were most uninterested and some even fall asleep whilst on duty, forcing me to get up out of my bed unassisted and help myself even though I was recovering from a cesarean section. They are not really well trained and don’t seem to want to help. Further, the hospital does not have a home affairs department. Once your child is born they make it appear as though home affairs will contact you to finalize and collect the birth certificate but that couldn’t be further from the reality. I don’t think they have a contact at home affairs as alleged and as such, you will be forced to queue the 3km+ line just like everyone else at home affairs centurion, and with a newborn. Truly bizarre. Finally, when my toddler broke his foot, we were forced to wait in excess of 8-9 hours in total between the two days we attended at the hospital at the emergency room. I cannot understand or fathom why children are not prioritized at the emergency room and why the wait for a doctor is so excessive. I will never go to this hospital again.
