Our ground floor room and bathroom was infested with cockroaches. We bought bug spray and fumigated the room ourselves. The kitchen area is dark and dingy and would certainly not pass any Health and Safety protocols. When we wanted to leave a day early, we were told we would not be refunded for the 1 day we were leaving early. The staff were friendly and helpful. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Please dont waste your money. My 13 year old son asked if we could rather sleep in our car than sleep in the hotel room. It is almost laughable the experience we had, the staff are rough and unhelpful, except for the 1 gentleman who did the cooking. The sheet did not fit on the bed, so there was mattress sticking out, i slept with my jacket around my pillow because i was nervous of the cleanliness of the pillows. Its such a pity as it is obvious that someone once had a beautiful dream for the hotel, but right now it is unloved and not maintained and it is very obvious that whoever owns it has little to no interest in the place running like a hotel....

This hotel is amazing. The staff are friendly and always eager to help. The place is beautiful and well decorated. It is situated near the university and all of the student life that comes with the university. Most of the embassies are easily accessible from this hotel, this means there are many international people staying here. Definitely great value for money.

Being from Cape Town we were in JHB for the festive season, I booked a little getaway for my Mrs and I for our 10 year anniversary. I was made to pay for the full booking before hand (24th Dec 2020) upon arriving to the hotel (26th Dec 2020), it was an absolute disaster. The room was not sanitized, insect infestation, i wish I was able to attach the video. was shown to another room down the road, which was worse than the first the room had not been cleaned since the last guest checked out. No one could provide hygiene details given the the Covid-19 Policies in place. We had no option but to leave the hotel and find alternate accommodation at the 11th hour. We found another place close by thankfully. To date 02 February 2021 over a month I am still waiting for a refund for that booking at Cricklewood. was promised a refund on the 8th of January 2021 by Monique (Admin) with no further responded to my reminder messages. I have now contacted Clinton (owner) on the 2 February 2021 hoping for a better outcome. I will update when I receive feedback.

The place is run down.
We stayed there and were happy to leave the next day!
It was the most filthy hotel we stayed in while in SA.
They sell themself as 5 star - what a big joke....
All the room was very dirty, there was hair and brown marks on the damaged linen.
Have a look at the photos, the toilet did not invite to sit on it...
And also see the chair, i was not willing to sit on it!

Very nice place to stay over whether it's for business or pleasure. Some rooms have nice balconies overlooking a stream and with animal sounds at night. Will definitely recommend this place

Terrible experience!!
Not 5 Star at all!!

No hot water in the room.
TV was not working.
Fire extinguisher standing in the middle of the room.
Dirty room, mouldy bathroom.
Killed cockroaches in the room.
Dustbin outside front door.
Spoke to Riaad, he was not helpful.
We did not stay and left for alternative accommodation.
