We had our Anniversary dinner here last night. Beautiful venue! I wanted the Pumbaa starter and the Kudu filet unfortunately both items on the menu were out of stock I then ordered the French Pizza and a beef filet to be done like the Kudu. The French pizza was good unfortunately I found a bone in the salmon and the guacamole was not seasoned. The beef filet I asked for med rare it came medium to well done and the sauce was definitely not the dark chocolate plumb sauce that was supposed to come with the kudu. For dessert I ordered the lemon meringue summer picnic, there was no meringue on the lemon curd that was placed on a rock hard dough that I couldn’t eat. The watermelon sorbet was good. My husband ordered the beef filet Madeira and the mushroom soup and the egg for for dessert. The soup was very nice, but the beef had exactly the same sauce mine had, also not Madeira. He enjoyed the dessert even though they were out of the yoghurt sorbet and placed watermelon sorbet instead. Having been in the industry ourselves we did nitpick and mentioned that red wine should not be served in a white wine glass, I had to ask for a red wine glass. The salt bowl had no spoon in it which means previous patrons used their fingers to pinch salt from it which is very unhygienic. The service was good and attentive. However for the prices of fine dining I expect the finer details to be taken care of and stock to be available for such a small menu.
