The motherland is a fantastic coffee shop conveniently situated in the Sandton City Mall immediately inside of the 5th Street entrance. A lively crew of baristas do a good job preparing the coffee. You have three size options for your coffee order and daily newspapers are available for reading at the coffee tables.

What a lovely surprise finding this Cape Town gem in the heart of Sandton - Johannesburg! Great coffee and also found a gluten free biscuit to go with it. Thank you

The coffee is not the best. I asked for a flat white and got the response “what size do you want”. The taste was also overwhelming milk and probably a single shot espresso.

Super friendly staff, ethically sourced delicious coffee. Lovely natural light, great ambiance with beautiful deco. Great for takeaway, meeting up with friends and the digital nomad.

Nice setting at the entrance of the Sandton City office tower with access from the street and mall. I was just somewhat disappointed that nobody called or made a noise for me to collect my coffee when it was ready. The result was that I sat there for 10 minutes thinking they had forgotten me only to find my then cold coffee standing on the counter.

Great coffee, come when it’s not too busy so the wait don’t put you off! Coffee here is really great, worth coming just for coffee.

As a lover of great coffee and good vibes, Motherland Sandton is a definite favourite for me. It feels like a home away from home. Along with their amazing coffee, you'll also find a great menu with healthy and filling brunch and lunch options.

My only criticism of this particular Motherland branch is the openness of the location. It is still secluded but very open which can be distracting if your intention is to get serious work done.
