For superb vegetarian food, this is the place to go. And for vegans too.
We enjoyed their dosas and the “special meal”. The food is authentic Indian fare. The place is clean and unpretentious. The service is good, efficient. Also, do try their masala chai and the falooda.

Had an authentic Veg Thaali suitable for vegans as well. There is fresh juice made on the spot. Service is great and the staff are very pleasant and the meals are well priced.

For a Sunday afternoon the place was really busy and definitely family friendly with kids everywhere.

We started off with Masala Tea which hit the spot and tried a few starters to share. First was the Onion Bhajji different to what I had anticipated but nonetheless tasty. Then we had the Rassam, it was a bit different to the norm but had a bite to it and lastly the Curd Vada with puffed rice. For mains we ordered the Paneer Palak, Aloo Mutter and the Channa Batura . All were delicious and sufficient portions with reasonable pricing. For dessert we tried the Soji, but it was way too sweet and buttery.

There was a mixup with the fresh juices that we ordered so that took a while. Note: There is no alcohol served here. The service was a bit slow and confused at times with all the people but it's great to see such a variety of vegetarian food in one place. It's also very casual so don't expect a fine dining experience it's more homely.

Very hospitable and friendly staff. Lovely vegetarian and vegan food. I highly recommend the paneer dosa, ghee pongal and channa bhatura.

Feel at home at Saravanaa Bhavan

We were welcomed by the owner, Zara, who invited us in and helped us to their freshly squeezed juices, which are fantastic. Definitely order yourself a juice when you get here, pssst, go for the Orange and Ginger or the Watermelon, both are awesome.

So much food.We had starters, mains and desserts. All of which were quite new to us, seeing as these are very authentic North Indian dishes. Our favourites have to be the Masala Dosa, the Aloo Jeera and the Dhaal Makhnie. Every dish was packed with flavour and quite spicy, but these 3 were just spot on. And don't forget to end off the meal with a good old Masala Tea.

The service was good. All the patrons and the owner was very friendly and helped us understand the menu a bit better when we had any questions. It was a tad difficult to order something to drink, and sometimes they did take a bit long with it too. Now we were a group of 20, so that can influence times too.

Atmosphere was quite warm and welcoming as soon as we arrived, but we do feel that it lacked a bit on the decoration side of things.

All in all, we had a great experience with Zomato and will definitely try them again.

Fantastic vegetarian food, in an upmarket type setting, that brings the taste of India to us here in Sout Africa.
No need to worry about spicy food,as there are dishes you could choose from that would be more suitable to your pallete

Great variety of delicious South Indian food including Dosas, idlis, uthapam, curries, chutneys, sambar etc.

Do not try the madras coffee - quite pathetic and overpriced.

The venue itself is neat and the staff are friendly. The establishment is quite busy so be prepared to wait a little.

It's quite a loud environment so it's difficult to have a decent conversation.

The food is worth the trip!
