Love the venue and the atmosphere. There's a massive variety of paints, brushes and stencils. Staff are friendly and helpful. Good cappuccino too ????

Painting takes longer than you think so make sure you give yourself at least 3 hours. The great part is if you don't finish before they close you can take your item home and return another day to complete it without any additional cost.

Only complaint is that we were asked to move tables 3 times as people kept coming and leaving, and were seated with other families. Would have really preferred our own table and less disturbances.

Lovely, relaxed and lively atmosphere. They have a variety of items ranging in price to choose from (use of paints and brushes included in the price). I enjoyed painting with my daughters. The staff were very helpful. I posted a before picture, after my items are baked in the kiln they will message me for collection, I will post more pictures, hoping they look good ????????

A great place for a relaxing afternoon.

It’s quite fun to go in a group and paint your clay items together.

There’s a nice variety paints and stencils to help those of us who need it.

There’s also some great snacks available and the staff members are really helpful and pleasant.

It should be noted that there is currently a waiting period of 6-8 weeks for your item to undergo the baking/varnishing process.

Update: Have successfully collected my items and am happy with the results.

I absolutely love this place!! As an artist, I'm such a fan of the little café! Highly recommended guys! If you don't believe me, take a look for yourself and come away feeling fulfilled and surprisingly joyful! Thanks Color Café! You will be seeing me again most definitely!

A lovely little spot to spend hours. The activity and experience is perfect for the aspiring artists out there. I, however, am not an artist but I tried. I think it is more about time spent with loved ones.

I think it makes for a cute date but not a first date. It takes 4 to 5 weeks to get your items back and you should plan that this person is still around in 4 to 5 weeks.

It was also very popular with children. I imagine a child could be very occupied at the Color Cafe.

The only thing that's missing is a few snacks. They only sell drinks. My suggestion is to eat beforehand.

Great to be able to do something creative and fun in Hyde Park. However, there are a few things that have dampened my experience. The space is small and can feel cramped quickly on a busy day. They seem to be understaffed. There are no food options and very few drinks options, which I think is important to have since people are sitting for about 2 hours to paint their items.
It has been two months since I was there to paint and my mug has still not been glazed. Nobody answers when I call their number so I need to go in and check intermittently whether my mug is ready. I'm really disappointed by the backlog in glazing and returning items to their customers.
I think it's a wonderful idea but there are much better ceramic painting venues in Joburg that are prettier, offer food and drinks, and are more efficient.

This is an amazing place for you to get creative. You have to book in advance now due to covid. You can purchase a variety of products from coasters to crockery to pot plants. They also have a variety of colours to choose from. They supply you with the paint and paint brushes. Once you have completed your work you hand it in and they will bake your painting which takes about 5 weeks. Definitely would recommend if you would like some quiet time.
