It was so much fun especially for me as I could not walk up the path because of my breathing issues. Smooth ride and I had no concerns on the way up.
The view at the top is spectacular but the line was not really visible on the day due to hectic winds.

Cost was R80 per person
( entry fee at the main gate not included )

A nice convenient feature for getting up to the base station. This cute carriage can help you avoid the long uphill walk up to the Old historic Lighthouse on Cape Point.
The name is the best feature for me, named after the famous Flying Dutchman; it does have a shorter path and surer navigation though ????
It takes you up through a little railroad carved through the fynbos and up to the upper station. Trip distance is less than 600m and is very convenient, leaving from the base station at the car park every 3 or 5 minutes. This is the only commercial funicular railway of it's type in Africa. From the upper station, it's a few steps, probably about 30 or so, to the Old Lighthouse. A gift shop is also located at the top, with the bigger one at the bottom. Rides costing about R 90 or 95 (less than R 100).
A good convenience for those that need it.
Unfortunately, the Old Lighthouse isn't wheelchair friendly, still some stairs to go after the upper station.
Haven't used this funicular yet- one day- when I'm 100 hopefully ????

A great and convenient way to go up the way instead of walking/hiking up for a small amount of money. This cute little Tram/funicular can help you avoid the walk/hike up and get to the lighthouse in 4-5 mins. I would recommend it if you’re with family to avoid wasting time.

Awesome and beautiful place. Friendly and helpful staff. There is a funicular drive every 3 minutes up and down. You can also hike to the lighthouse and even take the shipwreck route. You pay an entry fee, remember to take a driver's license or ID because it costs 3 times more if you aren't a South African citizen. You can enter with a Wild card here. You also pay for the funicular but do not pay if you hike up to the lighthouse.

I would recommend it, we really enjoyed the day.

Lovely ride with astonishing views of the Cape point if you don't feel like hiking up the trail. One way rides are available too. On top you can find brief history of the cape as well as the legend that precedes it.
