This historic square is now an African curio shopper's Mecca. The key here is that you need to bargain and bargain again. International tourists remember: if you're buying anything made from animal hides, you'll need a taxidermy certificate stating that the hide has been treated and the animal concerned is not on the CITES endangered animals list. This option sadly is not available in the market.

A nice market square with lots of stands selling mostly handmade merchandise such a jewelry, shoes, bags, hats, scarfs, cookware, statues, masks and many more.
A good place to buy souvenirs to family and friends back home.
The prices are much lower than in touristic areas and you can bargain for a very reasonable and cheap price.
The downside for me was that the merchants are a bit annoying as they won’t late you take a look peacefully and will start pushing you things to buy.
Overall the market is not big and it was a good experience.

Beautiful African souvenirs. I love the hand made bracelets, pen holders and continent of Africa wall hangings. Sent a gift to my student in Germany. She loved it. The stall owners are willing to negotiate, friendly and so creative with their ideas. Will be back for more. ❣️????

Best place to get African souvenirs in Capetown. Bargaining is in the air!

Nice market with African produced products for a reasonable price (if you negotiate!)

On a good day you might see some street dancing. There are many nice shops and the police are doing a good job protecting the tourists.

There are nice coffee shops (including CBD) and few more things to do.

Remember to bargain for the price! The items looks very fine but we easily cut 80-90% of the original price ;)

Looking a bit sad since lockdown, but well done to them for trying. Well worth a visit if you want African curios
