I arrived at the hotel on Wednesday the 9th February 2022 for a two night stay. Let me begin with the fact that i chose this hotel on the basis of my previous experiences with boutique hotels in Durban and Cape Town, and i had stayed in local hotels such as Fire and Ice as well as Southern Sun. Menlyn boutique hotel is small, cute and overall beautiful with some aesthetics. I booked a standard room and i liked it, it comes with a unique design. I came to the hotel for writing and its such a good space for that especially during the day. I appreciate the excellent service of all the staff members, i will mention those i still remember. The housekeeping lady who cleaned my room, the guy who fixed my TV, Ronald and Caroline from the restaurant and Masindi from the reception.
What i did not like and i think requires improvements are the following things;
1. The WhatsApp line to contact reception, housekeeping etc. is not efficient. I checked in at around 14:00 by 14:41 i sent a message requesting assistance with the network and smart TV in the room. I was only assisted at around 17:30. In the morning of the 10th it took staff 30 minutes to respond to my text on my request for iron and a board.
2. The menu is limited and serves smaller portions, i remember asking one of the staff if the menu in the room was different to that of the restaurant, wondering that i would have more option from the restaurant.
I think i will give it another try later in the year and see if there are significant changes and would actually go for executive room in order to get a different experience altogether.
