We spent a night here, arriving on a very hot afternoon. We immediately had a swim in the pool... So refreshing. The room was spacious with a kitchenette with a mini fridge and microwave. Which is perfect if you want to get drinks and takeaways. The room had a comfy bed, a spacious bathroom. Our room faded the beautiful table Mountain, a really delightful sight! The staff were friendly as well and the Location is conveniently close to the Vu0026A Waterfront will be visiting again.

We stayed at the "hotel" over the weekend. The only reason we chose this hotel is because it was the only one that had availability for a family of 4. I was extremely disappointed on arrival because we couldn't locate the entrance to the hotel and when we finally found a way in, we were taken through a side door into the parking garage and to the very dodgy looking lifts. The front desk was not at all inviting, it was like a bad movie motel experience. The passages are terrible looking. The room looked like a self catering chalet and not at all like a hotel room. The balcony was so tiny, you couldn't even put a chair out there if you tried. Nobody answered the phone when I tried to call for room service or housekeeping for extra blankets and when I eventually got through to reception I was told there is only one person and she is busy with the other guests (this in a hotel with 8 floors). The receptionist took my room service order and when the food arrived it was 3 chicken wings with a handful of salad for R75 and a small plate of chips for R25 covered in plastic. I never did get through for an extra blanket, nobody answered at 8pm at night. I will not recommend this hotel to anybody. This was not a good experience for me AT ALL. Never again.

Large rooms with balcony, kitchen and separate living room.

Unfortunately our room was quite dirty and the staff not friendly. Room service was not reachable via telephone multiple times - there were no sheets for the second bed (couch) as requested in advance twice before our stay.

In addition, there were some pieces of peanuts of previous guests on the sleeping couch, when I opened it. This is extremely problematic for me as a highly peanut-allergic person.

A second star for the nice view.

Very friendly and warm welcome, the staff in general was extraordinarily attentive and kind!
Great breakfast, fresh eggs in any variety, fresh fruit, charmingly made eating and entrance area. Very enjoyable dinner as well, either downstairs or via room service.
The room had a beautiful view (4th floor), the hotel is only a leisurely ten minute walk from the waterfront.
Even though the furniture does show signs of usage everything is very clean! They changed the sheets daily and not a crumb on the floor or speck of dust to be found anywhere! Charming room with separate bedroom and living room plus a little kitchen counter and balkony.
There was always bottled water in the fridge, which wasn't the case in other, more expensive hotels and tea and coffee, as well as soap, shampoo etc. were also refilled/ exchanged daily!
You can always enter the building through the garage where there is hotel staff greeting you at any time, so you always feel safe.
Shops, restaurants and cafes are nearby.
Whenever back in Cape Town we'd book again, with pleasure!

One of several Protea hotels in the area and one of three on the same road, easy to miss.

A small and quaint reception leads to slightly narrow passages and dated elevators.

Check in was efficient if a little slow.

Double rooms are decent sized for the price. They are also equipped with a kitchenette if small meal preparation is required with sink, with a microwave, small bar fridge, kettle and a toaster as available appliances.

Parking area is a little tight, watch out double cabs and similar vehicles. Parking area exit is steep and can take out bumpers if not slow and wary. Getting onto the main road into the CBD from the hotel requires crossing traffic from a stop street, not easy once early morning and evening peaks hit.

Breakfast was standard buffet fare, as per most hotels in this price bracket and offered sufficient choice for the four days spent here.

Overall a pleasant stay without any major wow factor but more importantly for me, nothing largely wrong with it at all overall.

My wife and I stayed here for 4 nights for a city break on our way to Mauritius.
The hotel is a joint venture with the local university which shares the same campus.
The site is an old prison which used to house white prisoners that worked building the old dock area nearby.
The is some odd the original internal structures and features which give it a nice old heritage feel.
Is only a few minutes walk to the Vu0026A Waterfront which is great for shopping, easing or just chilling.
Lovely modern bedroom with great shower room.
The staff are helpful and friendly and the whole site is clean and tidy.
Overall, a really good hotel in a great location.

absolutely great. they gave us a water bottle every day, you also could prepare tea and coffee for two in your room.

best of all. I forgot my jacket and hoodie in the room, and I was able to retrieve it 4 days later when I realised my loss.

the restaurant also has a buffet but you can order from their menu if you don't want the buffet.
